Introduction – The State of Selling Today:
In the last 10-15 years I have seen a plethora of selling strategies designed to turn selling into a science. Buyers have become subjects to be conquered, selling has turned into a linear path to close, objections have become fodder for ignoring the truth and manipulating the subject into agreement and then, of course, there is the “close”.
It is my contention and experience that such linear and manipulative sales strategies just don’t work anymore. Buyers see this behavior a mile away. And, because they see it coming, they are primed and ready to manipulate back.
The result is that it is harder and harder to “sell” anything. So much so that we have to get over “selling” altogether and focus on other strategies for connecting with our potential clients and customers. How do we do accomplish this? Well, we can just keep trying until sometimes we get it right and then try to duplicate whatever we think worked. Or, we can try a different way that incorporates a specific attitude, mindset, language, and strategy I call Confidence Selling™
